Clarissa Burt: This Summer's Beauty Juice

It's summer time again ladies, and you all know what that means! Fun in the sun and, if you're lucky, relaxing afternoons out by the pool or beach. Young and less young, summer is the time to show off that beach bod that you've been working on all winter, assuming you have been, while finally letting your hair down. But beauty tips change with the seasons, especially during this time of year. It's very important to keep up with the advice and make sure you keep on glowing--and NOT as a result of that particularly nasty sunburn you got from spending all your time by the pool. Fortunately, we interviewed Kirin Christianson, founder of Redhautemama.com, and Ford Model, to get some of the answers that you undoubtedly have about this upcoming season.

One of the major issues you might run into this summer is getting that beautiful bronze tan that everyone desires. As you well know, you could spend hours at the beach and end up nothing more than burnt skin as a result. However, Kirin argues that there's only one way to attain that special glow that is so idealized in our society, and that is her special "beauty juice."

According to Kirin, "[Beauty juice] gives my skin a natural glow that I could never achieve from tanning." With this special concoction, made of "spinach, tomatoes, celery, carrots, and blueberries," you can stop yourself from getting that aforementioned sunburn glow and make your skin shine in a much more healthy way. Speaking of health, Kirin notes, this juice is also wholesome and nutritious. In addition to the veggies and fruits that go into it, it has only "90 calories" as well as "five portions of [your] daily fruit and vegetable intake" and "some extra [besides]." Just throw one cup of each into a mixing bowl, add two cups of water, blend, and you are good to go! If you do, you'll be able to get that beach-side glow while keeping your washboard abs intact; a perfect mixture for any summer diet and beauty regimen.

Overall, Kirin remarks that "Beauty juice has seriously changed [her] health," a ringing endorsement from one of the most prolific pros in the beauty industry. Just remember: tanning, while hip, can be terrible for your skin. And, in an age where skin cancer is a very real issue, it's good to take any advice that may help you stay away from tanning as much as you can. So, this summer, avoid the tanning salon, drink your "Beauty juice," and take Kirin's advice; after all, she is an expert!
