The Education Liaison provides general reference service, assists with electronic and print resource reference service, participates in library research instruction, and works with other liaisons to develop and maintain the librarys collections, including management of a portion of the materials budget. The librarian in this position interacts with the Tift College of Education faculty, students, and staff on Mercers Atlanta campus, including serving on committees with the teaching faculty as needed. The end result is that students, faculty and staff of Mercer University will have the information resources they need to complete research and the knowledge and ability to access these resources efficiently. Some night and weekend work is possible.

Qualifications Required: ALA accredited MLS or MSLIS and two years of reference experience with all information formats, preferably in an academic library with a graduate education program, is required. In addition, the successful candidate must have experience in planning and facilitating library instruction. Commitment to customer service, strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills, including initiative, creativity, problem solving, and knowledge of education curricular trends is essential. The librarian must be technically proficient and have teaching/and or media specialist experience with enthusiasm for instruction, collection development, and team work.

Preferred:Experience with HTML and web page design or LibGuides and collection development, including experience working alongside teaching faculty is desired. Demonstrated evidence of successful leadership abilities and collection development skills working with curriculum materials and professional level resources are preferred. Grant writing success is also desired.
This twelve month, non-tenure track position carries faculty rank in the Division of Library Services. Library faculty members participate in library-wide planning and governance, work in a shared decision-making environment, and are active in professional organizations and University wide initiatives. Salary and faculty rank are dependent on qualifications and experience. Mercer offers a strong benefits package, including tuition waiver program for employees and dependents and 22 vacation days plus University holidays.
