Traditional job sites are great clearinghouses for open positions, but they don't do a very good job at tailoring those opportunities to your experience or preferences. matchFWD is a new job search site that uses your profiles from LinkedIn or Facebook (or both) help you find a job that matches your skills and work history.
When you sign up for matchFWD, you're invited to use your Facebook or LinkedIn accounts to get started (I used my LinkedIn account.) From there, it imports your work history, personal bio, and asks you a few questions to get an idea for the type of work you're looking for. The wizard will walk you through building your profile and setting it to public (so anyone can search for and see you), stealth (companies can find your profile and skills, just not your name?so you can browse privately), or private (no one knows you're there.)
The service even pulls in a few opportunities to get you started that they think is a relatively close match for your experience. You can give the site feedback as to whether the opportunity is a good one or not, and if it is, you can apply immediately. If you'd rather play matchmaker, you can invite your friends or share jobs you see on the site with your LinkedIn or Facebook friends and get them to apply. If you're an employer and you're looking for talent, you can list your jobs on the site as well.
matchFWD is free, and the service is brand new, so don't be surprised if there aren't jobs in your specific field or region at the moment. There are a ton of openings posted, but they're still small?which can play in your favor if you see something great.
